ONE EYE ON THE PRESENT, ONE EYE ON THE FUTURE

A few years ago, Fund Grube began the process of modernizing its IT systems which, in turn, has led to the necessary update of the most critical systems for its Retail business.

Once their main systems were updated and stabilized, Fund Grube wanted to define the next steps in their digital transformation journey by developing an IT systems master plan for the coming years.

Zoi worked on the initial modernization of Fund Grube’s systems and helped them to migrate their SAP systems to the AWS Cloud (read more here). Therefore, Zoi was in a strong position to advise Fund Grube on how to best plan and prepare for the future.

ADVANCED BUSINESS TRANSFORMATION

Using the internally developed »Advanced Business Transformation« (ABT) methodology, Zoi worked closely together with Fund Grube to develop a master plan for the coming years. The ABT methodology is a five-week intensive analysis of the current market situation, the status of information systems at the company, and future company needs. The result is a complete IT systems master plan to guide the company on its future digital transformation.

THREE PHASE APPROACH

The ABT methodology has three phases: Discover, Brainstorm, and Plan.

Phase I: Discover

The first phase consists of understanding the current situation of the company, including assessing the most relevant departments and their business processes.

The result of this phase is a complete view of the current situation with respect to the company’s IT information systems, as well as a starting point for the assessment of future needs. The Discover phase wants to detail and ensure compliance with the strategic objectives of the business.

Phase II: Brainstorm

In the second phase, we work together with the main stakeholders of the relevant business areas in order to draw up an initial plan and define possible improvements for each business area. To this end, the different approaches for the resolution of projects identified in the first phase are discussed in terms of strategic needs and ranked based on projected business impact.

Phase III: Plan



During the third phase, each of the projects identified during the previous phases is assessed and ranked in terms of economic and business impact, complexity, and priority.

Once the relevant information is available for each project, they are prioritized using a prioritization matrix. In this matrix, the weighting is calculated in three axes in order to obtain a clear vision of the three most relevant aspects of each project:

• Economic & Business Impact
• Complexity (DoD)
• Priority

Using the »Advanced Business Transformation« methodology, Zoi helped Fund Grube define an IT systems master plan for the coming years over the course of just five weeks. The digital transformation of the company is already underway. 

ABOUT FUND GRUBE

Fund Grube was founded in 1983 and is one of the major Retail chains in the Canary Islands dedicated to the cosmetics and fashion industry. Over 40 stores are distributed in local and tourist areas of Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura. Fund Grube has recently made the leap to the rest of the Spanish market by opening a new store in the Balearic Islands.
