Dentaid wanted to harmonize its global business operations. Part of the initiative was to make SAP ERP systems globally accessible to all employees. Migrating SAP to the cloud satisfied many of their requirements. Using Zoi’s structured migration methodology, Dentaid’s SAP ERP systems were migrated to the cloud in under 3 months. Additionally, a backup and disaster recovery system was implemented as an additional security layer.

HARMONIZE GLOBAL BUSINESS OPERATIONS

One of the initiatives of Dentaid’s strategic plan was to harmonize the processes of the subsidiaries with the headquarters. To do so, Dentaid wanted to make SAP ERP globally available; thus ensuring that everyone could operate using the same systems in a harmonized manner. From the beginning, the commitment to SAP as a world leader in ERP business software was clear.

A CENTRAL & GLOBALLY ACCESSIBLE SAP SYSTEM

Right from the start, Zoi advised that the platform should reside in AWS as a central network point to facilitate global access. The cloud ticked additional boxes including being easily scalable, faster, and more cost-effective than on-premise systems.

The whole SAP ERP Migration had to be analyzed holistically as there were many dependencies with other management and integration solutions such as SAP GA, CRM, PI, SOA, and BI, among others. In many cases, it is advisable that everything coexists in the same data network due to the latency between systems; however, in other cases, it is not a problem. These were some of the considerations for the migration to the cloud.

Thanks to Zoi’s experience with SAP systems, we have been able to migrate our SAP on-premise to AWS in a totally transparent way for users.

In addition to migrating SAP environments to the cloud, a backup and disaster recovery system was proposed as a means to provide additional security for the company.

At Zoi, we believe it is of particular importance for clients to select business partners who not only understand the technical implications of these platforms but can also understand the underlying business challenges and consequently advise on appropriate solutions. This approach helps to avoid technical problems and minimizes disruptions to the business.

STRUCTURED MIGRATION OF SAP TO AWS AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A DISASTER RECOVERY SYSTEM

Zoi uses a structured approach when it comes to migrating SAP environments to the cloud called the »Zoi Migration Factory for SAP«. This methodology provides the most efficient, secure, and reliable way to migrate SAP workloads to AWS, and uses best practices from both AWS and SAP.

The »Zoi Migration Factory for SAP« uses three phases: Assess, Mobilize, and Migrate & Modernize. In the Assess phase, the customer's SAP landscape is mapped and the migration is planned. In the Mobilize phase, the cloud infrastructure is created and tests are conducted in a test environment to ensure a seamless transition to the cloud. In the Migrate & Modernize phase, the migration to the production environment is conducted. Ultimately, the migration of SAP to AWS took less than 3 months.

Additionally, a backup and disaster recovery system was implemented with a Recovery Time Objective of less than 1 hour and a Recovery Point Objective of less than 15 minutes.
